We have booked the old Inn on the Park, McMenemy's restaurant at the Grimsby Town Football ground for the
HCA Dinner & Dance on Saturday 15th November. This is an ideal venue for us being either a stroll or short
taxi ride from the Marina and also excellent food. I have been to lots of functions at this venue and have
always been impressed with the catering and the atmosphere in the rooms. There will be entertainment in the
form of the resident disc jockey, who will be told what music NOT to play, so that we can dance
and talk in comfort.
The price will be £22 per head and will allow us fill the venue, if you want to pay money to Helen in the
office towards your tickets before hand, we can secure your booking. We intend to have a good fun night and
those of you who think it is just a Yachty thing, there is a good mix of cruiser and fishing folk, so you need
to buy some tickets and see for yourselves, we are a group of members who have the same sort of boating interest
and Jane & Helen do there best to organise the tables to be sitting with people you know.Everybody is made welcome.

Rear Commodore Power
Last year was a bit of a disaster on the rivers due to the flooding, so I am trying again to arrange some trips up river,
if you have a motor boat or sail boat, as long as you can negotiate the bridges, then lets meet.It can be a bit daunting
if you have never been up the river before and it is so much more fun travelling in the company of other boats.
Please contact me if you are interested in going up the Ouse to York , down the Trent and the Fosse to Lincoln or
the Anchome to join in the Brigg regatta. We have many visitors to the HCA from clubs up river and it would be nice
to pay them a return visit, I feel sure they will make us very welcome.
Please contact me if you are interested and we can arrange some dates.
We are trying to do some filming for www.uk-boating.tv in order to publicise the Open Day on the 9th August, where we raise
money for the Spurn Lifeboat. If any body is a budding Spielburg please let me know.
Elaine & I have had a meeting to discuss the Bar prices, you will be sorry to know that we have not decreased anything but
we decided that we did not need to increase anything either, so we have:-
Bitter @ £1.30 per pint
Lager @ £1.40 per pint
Coke on draft @ 40p per glass & cans of real coke @ 50p
Spirits from 90p per measure
You are welcome to hold your party in the Marina bar if you are a member and take advantage of the cheap bar prices, but remember
you can not exclude members or visitors from the Bar.

The Wells trip was well attended with 7 boats on the May Day weekend. Also had an extra from Brancaster joining the party –Jean and Johns son Russ with his boat. Scarborough weekend not so successful with only little Tomboy making it due to adverse weather. 4 boats made it to Hull and braved 35 knots of wind on the return leg. All worthwhile as had excellent meal in the Pelham restaurant above the White Hart pub, well worth a visit for anyone making a trip to Hull.
Next planned cruising event Holland trip in July contact Roger Troth for details.
East Coast Rivers cruise in August contact Pauline Jackson .
